Ventura Youth Sailing Foundation

Ventura Youth Sailing Foundation began in 1985 as the brainchild of Ventura Yacht Club Staff Commodore Bill Crew, member Ivan Cox, and former members Rick Hambleton and Greg Larson, as a way of building much needed financial support for youth sailors throughout Ventura County. Over the years, Ventura Youth Sailing Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization, has contributed thousands of dollars to youth sailors, to the Leo Robbins Sailing Center, and to the Ventura Yacht Club Junior’s Program.

After 40 successful years, leadership of the Foundation was recently transferred to 2026 Ventura Yacht Club Commodore Dwight Rowe and his wife, Katie. Their vision is to make sailing and racing equitably accessible to Ventura County youth, fostering self-sufficiency, confidence, and lifelong respect for our coastal environment.
